CS4 Paragraph styles problems

i have been having weird problems paragraph styles in indesign cs4 did not have in cs2. first weird problem happened in class project somehow style got stuck in program's head, speak, , no matter style try apply, defaults stuck one. still happening in particular file no matter try. "stuck" style not of styles ended defining, must have been tried @ point , discarded. i've tried removing styles , starting over, i've tried "break link style" before trying apply 1 of styles...i stuck style.

     then, experimenting in test document, , having success styles working way supposed to, , ran across glitch: when select number of paragraphs apply numbered list, numbers appear should. click on new style icon @ bottom of styles palette create style based on , "paragraph style 1" style label appears in palette. click style open dialogue rename it, of numbers change "1." , if try apply style set of selected paragraphs, numbered "1" also. works way no matter numbering system uses...all "a" or "i" or whatever.

     have tried uninstalling , reinstalling indesign no avail. tried resetting indesign preferences. unfortunately experiencing glitchy things photoshop cs4 also. have new imac 24" 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo 4g ram , running osx 10.5.6. bought software bundled design premium suite.

the first problem caused having character style applied text. can make applying paragraph styles confusing. try holding down option , shift when click on paragraph style name.

 

the numbering problem caused expecting of single style. have style set start numbering @ 1 rather continue previous. can single style set latter if never want restart numbering in second list. if need restart list you'll need @ least two, 1 start numbering , 1 continue it.

Arduino Uno not uploading

Indesign and MathType fonts

i having trouble getting indesign recognize mathtype fonts.  have been told move mathtype fonts on 2 indesign font folder.  copied mt-extra font file mathtype folder , pasted indesign font folder.  nothing changed.  indesign still gives me blank box after copy mt-extra font mathtype -->illustrator-->indesign.   guess need instructions on how transfer of fonts done correctly.  i'v looked @ install fonts manual indesign, not clear me on how it.  need utility fontexplorer this, or there other way.  what's weird working fine until had reinstall osx , reinstall cs3, font trouble started.  need toggle "activate-reactivate' adobe cs3 , don't know how close 20 max on this, worried that.  (i suspect because of note on forum might necessary).  thoughts appreciated. i'm using windows, advice may worth nothing...   1) shouldn't have deactivate id recognize fonts. 2) design science gives fonts away in type 1 , truetype flavors....
