OpenGL problem Photoshop CS4
i'm using photoshop cs4 (extended) on machine running windows xp (32 bit) sp/3 (with relevant updates microsoft).
everything seemed work fine first week or so, 1 day photoshop crashed error message related opengl. don't recall exact message now, had opengl features of video card.
i restarted photoshop, have crash again same message. @ point, checked adobe web site , came across document "gpu , opengl features , limitations in photoshop cs4" @ url http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewcontent.do?externalid=kb404898.
i using nvidia 8800 gts video card (512 mb video memory). after reading document mentioned above @ adobe site, updated video driver latest available @ nvidia (described on nvidia web site version 182.50, though shows on computer's device manager version 6.14.11.8250, dated 3/27/2009).
since installing new driver, option "enable opengl drawing" under <edit> <preferences> <performance> grayed out.
i enable opengl if it's @ possible. has else encountered problem, , there way fix it?

ps: did update photoshop version 11.0.1, made no difference, opengl drawing option still grayed out.
hi dave.
the problem should able fixed resetting photoshop 'preferences' - afair, it's done holding down 'ctrl' + 'alt' keys while starting photoshop. afterwards, photoshop should detect new driver , can enable opengl in preferences menu.
what's happened photoshop has not detected new driver , still using old one, 1 had problem with. if have problematic driver it's important disable opengl before updating driver, , re-enable opengl when photoshop first opened new driver.
if resetting preferences doesn't work try re-installing previous driver, and, if allow to, disable opengl in photoshop preferences, , try installing new driver again.
ian.
