Pull up resistors for I2C

hello everyone, electronics noob please have mercy (=

i planning on making own little breakout board couple of eeprom chips , want use i2c connect arduino. while planning board remembered i2c open drain - far understand - means sda , scl need connected 5v through pull-up resistors.

here problem/question: when want use own breakout board slave device on i2c bus need build in pull resistors , connect sda , scl line 5v on board through them. if want have more slave devices on bus? should pull lines high? wouldn't parallel circuit in turn mean overall resistance decrease , more current go through lines?

as far know i2c break out boards implement pulling of 2 data lines. can use multiple on same bus regardless?

my question boils down this: when designing board, need implement pull-up resistors a) "only mode" (only slave device on bus) b) multiple slave devices on bus far know implement this.

thank in advance (=

it 1 pull-up resistor per signal line.
