Best bootloader for bare-bones zero clone?

i have basic atsamd21g18 based board (no edbg, sd card, etc) , want know best arduino.cc bootloader load it.

there standard 0 bootloader built edbg dependency? there mkr bootloaders rely on sd cards or wifi add ons?

or need go arduino.org m0 bootloader (and work arduino.cc ide/compiler?

hi lemming,

i've used standard arduino/genuino 0 bootloader custom samd21g18a , samd21j18a boards without issues. i've found reliable , if there occasional upload problems, double tapping reset button put board bootloader mode has recovered situation.

there's no edbg dependency. arduino/genuino bootloader designed work both native usb port or serial port (sercom5) on port pins pb22 , pb23, (although on custom boards i've ever used native usb port).

the prerequisites board drives samd21g18a 32.768khz crystal, has reset button , uses 2x5 way swd connector. swd connector allows bootloader burnt using programmer such atmel ice. thereafter programmer can removed , sketches uploaded using usb port.
