BLANK PAGE unless I use /Index.php - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i attempted search forum "blank page" not sure if saw exact problem.
if missed it, apologize in advance!  point me right post.

i used rocket launcher install versatilityiii , went thru instructions carefully.
i hostgator , use cpanel , whm on shared host.

the install worked fine , templates worked after install.

in instructions there "post rocket launcher queries".

it says move files root when access http://www.yoursite.com enter joomla site.

i moved files , folders in directory "/public_html/joomla_rt_versatilityiii" "/public_html".

i edited configuration.php , changed absolute path, live site , cache path to:
$mosconfig_absolute_path = '/home/wcotnet/public_html';
$mosconfig_live_site = 'http://websitecottage.net';
$mosconfig_cachepath = '/home/wcotnet/public_html/cache';

now if enter browser "www.websitecottage.net/index.php" joomla website comes , works fine.

however, if enter "www.websitecottage.net" blank page.

am missing setting need change "www.websitecottage.net" bring joomla templates instead of blank page?

i appreicate time , in forum!  did ask on rockettheme forum no 1 has replied.

jess: if not see .htaccess file created in folder, create new text file , name .htaccess

jess: main thing remember, however, if make change in folder, subdirectories within use change, if subdirectory has different homepage, must go folder , make own .htaccess , update directoryindex filenamehere
jess: long story short, .htaccess file recursive.  changes made in folder's .htaccess file affect every folder within it.
