Thread: How do I add to my network to access shared drives?
so, took me few years come linux. had used many years ago, , have been meaning revisit time , have. tried couple other oss just, frankly, garbage. but, not ubuntu! far, haven't had of issues i've seen posted here. decided use worst system test environment - old jetta jetbook 9450. loaded no problems, noted none of "searching drivers" issue ran other oss!
being said, have 1 question - how laptop join network can view shared drives? in windows, it's change workgroup network name. been flipping through options, , i'm sure may have overlooked it.
other - far, good!
samba let share on windows network. if go ubuntu software center>system tools>samba @ bottom of applications menu, you'll able install system-config-samba, gui utility configuring network, , dependencies.
you'll find new entry under system>administration menu called samba. it's simple windows network configuration utility i've used.
