Thread: Ubuntu is freezing randomly. Cant do anything. Need help!


hello all,

i've been , forth ubuntu while now, because programs i'm in need of doesnt work properly, adobe suite. anyhow, ran windows 7 64bit days ago, , worked well, until didnt feel trying fix every single performance issue had, thought; ubuntu/linux, come save me once again!

issue:

i've downloaded , installed 32 , 64 bit versions of latest ubuntu.

performing clean formatted install every time try fix problem, , whole computer totally , 100% dedicated ubuntu, no dual-boot hax or that.

works fine installation, , enter os.

now, during system updating, web browsing, exploring folders etc, computer freezes. nothing works except reboot. cant ctrl-alt-f1 or else matter.

happens during system updating or when try fetch program via synaptic, wine or compiz etc.

freezes random. sometimes, happens @ initiation of downloading of updates, , when couple left of 64 updates comp trying download.

ideas of problem?

im running on a:

asus x71slseries laptop
duo t5850
4gb ram
geforce 9300m gs 512 mb



note:

im of newb ubuntu. know basic commands "sudo apt-get install xxx" , on. try gentle me

for starters, go 32bit. easer working 64bit , when feel comfortable 32 can move on 64. ya think?
