Thread: when unpluging then A/C power from laptop, ubuntu freezes and must be rebooted

this happens no matter ubuntu linux distro use. 9.10, 10.4 alpha 2, same result.
have new asus u50f intel i3 best buy.
mepis works without power plugged in.

also, if plug in headphones, audio plays on speakers , headphones @ same time.

know if addressed in final release of 10.4 or if there's way disable subsystem battery management won't go screwy every time unplug power?

will need system info in order see if it's known issue.

when boot workstation ac power plugged in, run following in terminal:
code:
dmesg > dmesg.before
then:
code:
sync
and unplug power connector.

wait 10 seconds, press following key sequence.
alt+printscreen+r
alt+printscreen+e
alt+printscreen+i
alt+printscreen+s
alt+printscreen+u
alt+printscreen+b

hold down keys, , wait 2 seconds between each sequence.
should ensure processes/devices safely ended/synchronised/unmounted before reboots workstation.

when boot again:
code:
cat /var/log/dmesg.0 > dmesg.after
and attach 2 files created next post. (they should dmesg.before , dmesg.after inside home directory).

regards
iain
