CSS background container color not "showing through" ?


hi all-

 

i know may basic css question i'm getting doing hand, i'm looking more closely @ how things work (or don't seem to) , can't figure 1 out.

 

here's example:

 

http://www.turnerdesign.com/testsite/

 

and css:

 

http://www.turnerdesign.com/testsite/test.css

 

i have #container green color, doesn't show in gap right of #rightcolumn.

 

i think has way floats work... uh... or

 

any appreciated!

your maths doesn't add up  300 x 3 = 900px, aiming 920px per #container width.  need distribute 20px between columns or add 20px right column.

 

ps: if decide add padding or margins, need recalulate column widths take account.  @ moment, don't have either of column.
