Thread: MySQL and CUPS don't start at login, can't configure grub, and other problems
i have numerous little annoyances hoping fix. (ordered priority!)
1. mysql doesn't start @ login. when first installed mysql, worked have manually start annoying. people in irc suggested things rc.local, said there's underlying issue. ideas how find issue?
2. same cups
3. same virtualbox-ose
(as temporary workaround run sudo /etc/init.d/virtualbox-ose restart && sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart && sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart before want use something)
4. grub used work, giving me 10 second time out , not. doesn't, , have select os , press enter, there's no defaults. read through entire section on grub2 in no matter did nothing seemed affect start in slightest.
5. reason going windows use ms office 2007 (including access). set virtualbox, right hassle. have save documents email, move them shared folder, boot windows, start shared drive, can open them in office. have tips/tricks how better?
6. laptop runs hot in ubuntu, hot heats room 5 degrees on day. never ran hot in windows, looks though nothing running. in system monitor cpu usage remains around 5% each core on idle, yet fans spinning away crazy.
7. can't suspend nor hibernate on laptop. gives me bunch of errors , have reisub fix it.
8. (least important) when laptop shuts off, random wavy lines appear of screen. doesn't healthy.
system info attached archive file. let me know if need more info.
thank helping me out! when started out ubuntu had list of 30 things wanted change, , i'm down these 8. if have ideas on how solve these things making ubuntu experience better is. thanks.
