Arduino (G)AG Open source now costs $12 a year

i working on supporting schools students use chromebooks.  many elementary , other schools have gone chromebook because low cost.

i sell nice uno-compatible board schools $12. , own it, not rent it.

i hope real open-source people start working on chromebook interface...

arduino web editor not open source. parts of are, because required licensing of code based on.

it's unfortunate if have charge makes sense me because have invested huge amount of resources project on course of years. there significant ongoing costs pay servers , bandwidth keeping running. closed source nature means community can't contribute work. don't have bug tracker open public. arduino boards have not been available store, due in part arduino vs arduino shake can't have helped income.

i haven't been big fan of arduino web editor project because have seen taking resources away development of standard ide @ time when there significant issues (primarily days of arduino-builder). in way i'm glad if can start generating of own resources.

i'm not familiar chrome os. sort of barriers there making standard ide run on it? if possible, seems best approach far.
