Gradients making difficult to understand in InDesign

i made gradient in indesign cs4 document, 1 pms another.

the gradient goes , down. odd reason, on left side of gradient box,

there white instead of gradient (see attachements). happened me few times.

 

what make gradient this? manage correct problem

but never remember how did , why happened.

 

why doesn't gradient go way each side of gradient box? see attachements, please.

 

also, in general: find gradient making (with pms colors , shades of pms colors anyway) difficult in indesign.

i'm sorry it's simpler in quark. once quarkxpress...

the concept of gradient swatches makes no sense me.

we can't see attachments yet, here's general advice gradients.

 

i find it's easiest work swatches panel, first defining swatches or tint swatches each stop color, defining new gradient swatch , choosing stop colors swatches list. can use color sliders fro cmyk or rgb modes.

 

another method drag swatches swatches panel , drop them onto stops in gradient panel. can same color proxy in colors panel, or select stop in gradient , modify in colors panel.

 

if find have stops don't want, click on them , drag downward remove them.
