hi all!

i've been here while never got post anything. i'm finishing latest project - led table - , though cool present here can feedback.

the led table coffee table luminous square blocks arranged in grid pattern displaying lighting animations & effects. sound reactive , include arcade games. maybe you've seen on internet before exists , in fact i've done 2 versions of table @ home i'm trying here make practical everyday use without knowledge requirement , diy skills. no need connect computer or raspberry pi, led table independent , works power it.





i felt frustration when people visiting me ask if build them table, while ok diy project, time consuming! new design looks @ making things simple possible , keeping cost low. end goal launch kickstarter build community around table, beginning of october 2017. kickstarter include both full table , diy kits in kickstarter.

my previous table using many tlc5940 , made huge custom pcb. each led wired pcb , ended using 50m of cable! why i'm doing things differently.



to drive table, i'm using arduino mega, bluetooth receiver hc-06, sd card reader , microphone amp. of being powered 5v 12a ac-dc power supply. hardware allows control table though android app (select animations, games, interact…), store large number of animations directly in table, , react sounds , music.

for table itself, grid laser cut, , top cover made of highly diffusing acrylic. electronics held below table, in small box. leds ws2812 strips.

the plan supply initial table around 30 different effects, 5 arcade games , 5 music dependent effects. that's basis extendable users themselves. in line schedule of finished.





more everything, want build community around table. users community, diy community well.

the led table can store 65000 animations internally. i've made editor online create these animations , generate files used table display in real time. not available publicly yet additional work required security, planning in incoming weeks. i'll update post once available.





once created, animation can shared online community. can browse animations , download animation table. can use animation base , extend or improve , share back. doesn't require programming knowledge.

the chosen way put animation in table yet unknown. can computer, can led table app, or maybe differently. not want make process difficult.

while there lot talk about, not sure what's of interest arduino community i'll let people give feedback if interested , i'll come answering questions, technical or not. advice welcome. love share experience
