Massive 256 analog input MIDI controller - Arduino Mega - losing voltage?
so title suggests, building rather large 256-max input midi controller arduino mega old , beloved synth never had proper knob per function capabilities.
basically have been able lot arduino mega , i've been able connect 16 individual mux chips have 16 inputs on each. seems function in setup , midi library (albeit kind of lacking in documentation) pretty straight forward.
disclaimer, i'm programmer not electrical guy , new arduino.
my issue when connect 40-ish analog inputs mega , turn pots way high position when wiggle various pot, data received diminishes , loses 0-1023 range. , instead in 0-960 range. normal?
i powering analog pots via ardiuno mega's 5v rail. there solution this? running out of voltage when pots turned up? of course, if running out of juice todo when try , connect 200+ pots?
any on appreciated.

please show schematic (photo/scan of hand drawn 1 do). value pots (40 1k pots might indeed little 200ma)? else connected?
