Advice on converting analog Hi8mm tapes to digital
hi,
i looking advice on converting hi8mm analog video tapes digital. not tapes still prefer obtain quality transfer. may editing on few of them in pre , maintain ability edit them in future.
at present, i've bought roxio easyvhstodvd usb converter states can capture in dv-avi format doesn't appear able so. results far @ capturing have been finicky @ best i'm still working on wary because format captured not dv-avi.
i've read several people here suggesting using ads pyro a/d firewire converter. better, less troublesome route go? , other tips have in doing a/d conversion?
thanks,
paul
yes ads pyro best way go... either pyro or canopus range of dv converters... ie advc110 or advc300. advc300 best of bunch has timebase corrector can eliminate dropped frames on older tapes.
your tape captured 1 clip, if burning straight dvd not problem. if want editing may want capture using scene detect option. split video clips (virtual clips within pe7, ie tape still capyured 1 video) , place them in media bin can drag them timeline. not sure how pe7 scene detect option works... have had mixed results in past similar programs. end splitting myself manually.
