Can't Login - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i can't login joomla after installing it. i'm sure i'm using right passwords because if type in different password, "username , password not match" shown me, if use correct password, refreshes login page.

i had same exact problem joomla 1.0.13, , thought upgrade take care of it, hasn't. using shared server hostgator mysql database.

can me, i've been troubleshooting last 3 days , getting extremely frustrated.

have followed steps in installation manual? need entering admin username , password created in main configuration screen of installation process. (this not same database password or use logging hosting account - in fact should not security sake.)

you can reset password directly within database following these notes earlier post of mine:

ok go phpmyadmin,
open jos_users table
select browse view list of users
there should user there id of 62?
if there click edit user
make note of username
enter code referenced above password field - 21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3
save item (click go) depends on version of php myadmin if memory serves
enter url yoursite/administrator browser login screen
enter username noted
enter password admin
click button
and (hopefully) should in
